3.5 KW Air Cycle Machine

Air Cycle Machine is basically a turbine and compressor coupled on a single shaft which is designed to be operated in Reverse Boot Strap Mode of operation. The purpose of the Air Cycle Machine is to generate cold air from hot ram air sourced from external ambient during flight. The cold air is generated by the machine by expansion of the air through the turbine. The cold air is supplied to an Air to Liquid Heat exchanger to remove the heat from the coolant which is circulated through electronics. The work generated by the turbine is used by the compressor to purge the hot air from the heat exchanger to the external ambient. The 3.5 KW ACM is state of the art machine designed for airborne application
