• To accelerate building of ... indigenous defence capability in academic and research institutions and foster knowledge-based growth in science and advanced technologies by strengthening and integrating national resource of knowledge, knowhow, experience, facilities and infrastructure and enable growth of defence R&D.
• To catalyze cross-fertilization of ideas and experience between DRDO and academic experts in scientific and technical fields that contributes to the progress of scientific knowledge helping growth of defence technology in the country
•To launch and coordinate directed research in academic institutions and support research in niche areas of science and technology and develop capabilities.
•To enable and exploit technological innovations and to create conditions suitable for attracting talent through research collaborations and other academic exchanges.
• To adopt synergic approach towards national needs and priorities in the field of defense technologies.
