DRDO's pursuit of self-reliance and successful indigenous development and production of strategic systems and platforms ranging from Aeronautical System, Missiles, Radars, Armaments, Sonars, Electronic Warfare, Computational System, Life Science & Engineering System, Surveillance and Recce Systems, Naval and Airborne Weapon Systems using indigenous manufacturing and testing facilities and working together with OFBs, DPSUs, academia and private industries. The organisation has also demonstrated its ability and capability in the fourth frontier of warfare, the space, by successfully conducting tests of Anti-Satellite Missile & scramjet demonstration by testing Hypersonic technology demonstrator vehicle .
A phenomenal growth of 70 per cent in product portfolio value of DRDO developed products cleared by Defence Acquisition Council during last four years, indicates a very high level of sense of satisfaction and accomplishment on the designated path of Research and Development for the Armed Forces. Organisation has identiļed 108 systems and sub-systems for production in India, thus strengthening the indigenous defence ecosystem.
